No Direction

No Direction is our 70ft Narrowboat which is now home to my wife Jayne and myself, it was launched on 4th February 2008.

Something Different.

Friday. 29th, June, 2012.
Kings Bromley Marina.

Tomorrow morning we'll be boarding the Scarborough Flyer pulled by 46233 Duchess of Sutherland, leaving Tyseley at 7.45 and arriving in Scarborough at 14.08.

Picture from Vintage Trains website.

We're in a Premier Dining carriage so we get a proper breakfast on the outward trip and after three hours in Scarborough, probably getting wet, an evening meal on our return journey.

A civilized way to travel.         Picture from Vintage Trains website.

We're not steam train anoraks, it's just something different and hopefully a good day out, there's four of us going, Pete and Val, the other two often do steam train trips, the last one was Tyseley to Plymouth and back in a day.

We did that trip last year, fabulous day out, keep an eye out for the Huddersfield narrow as you go along, also you go through the Stannage tunnel, not as exciting as the boat tunnel tho, its all brick lined.

Wonderful! I hope the rail route is all open for you (and that any torrential rain doesn't put out the fire! - I write this during a downpour in Norwich...)

Hi Both
Yes Dukes is a much easier trip if you're heading upstream on the river. Last time we used Sheepwash so we could have a look at Oxford, but then couldn't find anywhere to moor anyway!
Hope you enjoyed the rail trip.
Cheers, Geoff
