No Direction

No Direction is our 70ft Narrowboat which is now home to my wife Jayne and myself, it was launched on 4th February 2008.

Off at Last

Thursday 19th May 2011.
Kings Bromley Marina to Fazeley.
13 Miles, 3 Locks 1 Swing Bridge.

What a cracking days cruising, we left Kings Bromley Marina at 9.15, we met boats coming out of the 3 Locks at Fradley so we were able to glide straight in, even Fradley Junction was quite.

The Marina Swan family, doing well.

Other Narrowboaters will know about the strange forces at work which ensure you only meet oncoming boats at bridges and narrow sections, today we met 3 boats as we tried to wriggle past Streethay Wharf but all past without incident, just after passing Streethay we came across the site of the future Kings Orchard Marina, quite small compared to some Marinas, it's planned to hold 80 boats.

It looks an easy place to build a Marina as the site is lower than the Canal so not much digging required, it's on the Tow Path side so that will need a bridge.

We stopped on the Visitor moorings at Hopwas for lunch, sorry to say the Towpath is still blighted by Dog mess, another blogger complained to the Parish Council.

We are now moored at Fazeley, I was amazed that there was so much space available, a local said that British Waterways had shifted all the overstayers, some of the boats had been here for months, well done B.W.

Tomorrow we have 2 Locks at Glascote and then 11 at Atherstone, that should give us an appetite.
